Peter Obi Confirms 2027 Presidential Bid, Emphasizes Single-Term, People-Centered Vision
Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has officially confirmed his intention to run for president in 2027, signaling another bid to transform Nigerian governance.
Speaking during an interactive X (Twitter) Space session on Sunday evening, Obi stated that he is prepared to contest and would serve only one four-year term if elected. His declaration was reinforced by a statement from his media adviser, Ibrahim Umar of Peter Obi Media Reach.
He emphasized that his participation in coalition discussions is centered on tackling Nigeria’s pressing challenges, not power politics. “If the coalition is not about stopping the killings in Benue and Zamfara, reviving our economy, making industries productive, and putting food on Nigerians’ tables… count me out,” Obi asserted.

In the same session, Obi dismissed rumors about a joint ticket with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, clarifying he will not be running as a vice-president.
