TNT Sports has announced it will acquire Eurosport’s live television rights in the UK and Ireland from the end of February 2025.
In a transformative move for UK sports broadcasting, Eurosport, a staple since 1989, will merge with TNT Sports, marking the end of its standalone channels on February 28, 2025. Known for iconic coverage of events like the Tour de France, Grand Slam tennis, and the Olympics, Eurosport’s content will now integrate into a single, premium viewing experience under Warner Bros. Discovery.
While the Olympics will continue to air in partnership with the BBC, concerns over access to free-to-air sports persist, particularly regarding potential changes to Six Nations rugby coverage. Scott Young, Head of Sports for Warner Bros. Discovery, emphasized the goal of simplifying the viewer experience as this new era begins.
This merger signifies the end of an era for Eurosport and the start of a redefined sports media landscape.
