Ecobank Nigeria, a leading financial institution and a member of the Ecobank Group, has recently concluded its “Millionaire Geng” promotional campaign with a significant reward of N42 million to its customers. The grand finale of this savings initiative took place in Lagos, marking a successful end to a campaign designed to foster a culture of saving among Nigerians amidst economic fluctuations.
The “Millionaire Geng” Promo, which ran from July 1 to December 31, 2024, was aimed at deepening financial inclusion and rewarding customer loyalty. According to information available online, the campaign was part of Ecobank’s broader strategy to encourage savings across different socio-economic groups, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas of Nigeria.
Ms. Adeola Ogunyemi, Head of Consumer Banking at Ecobank Nigeria, highlighted the dual objectives of the promo during the announcement of the winners. “This initiative is not just about the cash prizes; it’s fundamentally about promoting financial security and long-term stability for our customers,” she stated. Ogunyemi also pointed out the growing savings culture in Nigeria, driven by economic challenges like the fluctuating value of the Naira, which has led to an increase in deposits across the banking sector.
The breakdown of the rewards demonstrated the bank’s commitment to widespread customer engagement. Monthly draws saw 520 customers each receive N50,000, rewarding consistent savers over six months. Quarterly draws awarded 16 customers N500,000 each, recognizing those who maintained their savings for at least three months. At the grand finale, four lucky customers, each from different regions of Nigeria – FCT & North, Lagos, Mid-West/South-West, and South-South/South-East – won N2 million each, celebrating their six-month commitment to saving with Ecobank.
The transparency and fairness of the selection process were emphasized by Mr. Victor Yalokwu, Head of Consumer Segments and Products, who noted that all draws were conducted under regulatory supervision and broadcast live. “What gave our customers the opportunity to win was their commitment to saving. We set clear criteria for participation, ensuring inclusivity and fairness,” Yalokwu added.
