Aliko Dangote Unveils N15 Billion Development Plan for Kano University

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH) in Wudil, Kano State, has announced a comprehensive N15 billion development initiative aimed at revitalizing the institution’s infrastructure and academic environment. This significant investment underscores Dangote’s commitment to enhancing higher education in Nigeria.

The development plan encompasses the construction of a modern Senate Building, three additional student hostel blocks, and ten senior academic staff accommodations. Additionally, Dangote has pledged to upgrade the university’s water treatment plant to address persistent water supply issues and to finance the university’s fifth convocation ceremony.

In a recent visit to the university, Dangote also addressed the institution’s electricity challenges by paying N100 million upfront to the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), facilitating the restoration of power to the campus. He further committed to providing official vehicles for the university’s principal officers and to implementing sustainable energy solutions to ensure consistent electricity supply.

The Vice Chancellor of ADUSTECH, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, expressed profound gratitude for Dangote’s interventions, highlighting the transformative impact these developments will have on the university’s growth and academic excellence. He emphasized that such philanthropic efforts are instrumental in addressing the infrastructural deficits faced by many Nigerian tertiary institutions.
