Abia Governor Warns against Plans to Manipulate 2027 Governorship Election
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has cautioned politicians against any attempt to manipulate the 2027 governorship election, insisting that only the will of God and the people will determine the outcome.
Speaking on Thursday during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians at the Government House, Umuahia — as aired on Channels Television — the governor warned that those planning to rig the election should be prepared to face the consequences.
“I have heard that some people are saying they must take over the state and write results. My advice to them is that if they truly want to write anything, they should write something else before that time,” Otti stated.
According to Daily Post, Otti was reacting to comments credited to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who reportedly said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take over Abia in 2027.
The governor, who came to power under the Labour Party, ended over two decades of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) dominance in Abia State after winning the 2023 governorship election.
His remarks come amid growing political manoeuvres and early preparations ahead of the 2027 polls.
